Pope Francis, taking into account the impact of the spirituality and mission of St. Faustina Kowalska on the life of the whole Church, the inspiration for the Apostolic Movement of Divine Mercy, which grew out of her charism and mystical experience for the proclamation and intercession for God’s mercy for the world, in addition to taking into account the petitions and requests from priests, nuns and religious and associations of the faithful, ordered that the Saint’s name be entered in the General Roman Calendar, and her voluntary feast will celebrated the 5th of October. The decree was announced on May 18, 2020, the hundredth anniversary of the birth of St. John Paul II, the Congregation for Divine Worship and the Discipline of the Sacraments. John Paul II established the Feast of Mercy in the Church, making a gift for the world of the message of Mercy as recorded in the Diary for the third millennium of faith.
