Although the National Shrine of St. John Paul II in Washington continues to be temporarily closed to the public due to the pandemic, a solemn Mass will be held on October 5th, the liturgical feast of St. Faustina. Members of various religious communities, employees of the Shrine with their families, and sisters from the Congregation of Our Lady of Mercy who serve at the Shrine, will attend. The Eucharist will be offered for the intention of all the Apostles of Divine Mercy in the world, and will be celebrated by Fr. Paweł Sass, pastor of the Nativity parish in DC, to whom St. Faustina and the spirituality of Divine Mercy are very close. After the Eucharist all will pray the Litany to St. Faustina and there will be the possibility of veneration of her relics. After the Holy Mass there will be a common lunch, and at 3:00 p.m., a solemn prayer at the Hour of Mercy and the Chaplet with the exposition of the Blessed Sacrament. All the prayers will be broadcast online on the Shrine’s Facebook and YouTube chanel.
