First Translation of the “Diary” into Esperanto

1 min read

After many years of work, the first edition of the “Diary” in Esperanto has been published. The translation was made by Karol Pacholczyk, a long-time teacher at the Forestry Technical School in Zagnańsk, a distinguished Esperantist, educator and community activist associated with the Świętokrzyskie region. In matters of religious terminology, Karol Pacholczyk was assisted by the Franciscan Fr. Stanisław Płachta, a well-known Esperantist. The 683-page work was published by the Jedność Publishing House in Kielce one month before the translator’s death.

The “Diary” has already been officially published in 38 languages, with four further translations currently in progress. It is being translated not only into languages with a global reach and those spoken by large populations, such as Chinese, Arabic, Korean and Vietnamese, but also into regional and local languages spoken by relatively small numbers of people, such as Tok Pisin, Telugu and Thai.
