On October 14, at 5:00 p.m., a violent storm lasting just five minutes swept through Walendów near Warsaw, causing extensive damage to the property of the Congregation of the Sisters of Our Lady of Mercy. The storm uprooted numerous trees, toppled telephone and electricity poles, and damaged the roof of a farm building. Firefighters worked until 9:00 p.m. to remove the most serious obstacles, including clearing the public road running alongside the convent property and making it passable again. The convent is currently without internet and telephone service, and cleaning up the grounds and repairing the damage will take many more weeks. In this situation, the sisters from the convent in Walendów are appealing to people of goodwill for help so that they can continue serving others in safe and orderly surroundings.
