At its 114th Plenary Assembly, the Bishops’ Conference of Slovakia approved the request of the Polish Bishops’ Conference and expressed its support for the proposal to confer upon St. Faustina Kowalska the title of Doctor of the Church. The initiative was submitted to the Slovak bishops by the President of the Polish Bishops’ Conference, Archbishop Tadeusz Wojda. In his request, he stated that the mystical revelations of the Merciful Christ and the message entrusted to St. Faustina have had a profound impact on the understanding of Divine Mercy in today’s world. The Slovak bishops identified themselves with this initiative and expressed their conviction that the message of Divine Mercy is also greatly needed today. By supporting this proposal, they wish to contribute to spreading the conviction that forgiveness and mercy are values capable of transforming the world and bringing about spiritual renewal.
