The Shrine of Divine Mercy in Plock
The Sanctuary of Divine Mercy in Płock was established on April 30, 2000, at the site of the apparitions of Jesus, the Merciful One. It was here that the prophetic mission of Saint Sister Faustina Kowalska began. In the convent of the Congregation of the Sisters of Our Lady of Mercy at the Old Market Square, the Lord Jesus asked Sister Faustina to have His image painted according to the model He showed her in a vision on February 22, 1931, and then to establish the Feast of Divine Mercy.
For this reason, this place is exceptionally important not only for devotees of Divine Mercy, but for the entire Church, which in our times lives by the message and devotion to Divine Mercy in the forms given by Jesus through Saint Faustina. Every year, more and more pilgrims from Poland and around the world come to the Sanctuary of Divine Mercy in Płock. Hence the need to build a new church together with facilities for pilgrims. The expansion of the Sanctuary of Divine Mercy began in 2015. Currently, after many years of work, we are rapidly approaching the completion of construction.
From April to December 2025, design work related to the interior of our church was carried out; new organs along with speakers were purchased; an illuminated display case was made in the vestibule of the Sanctuary; equipment for online broadcasting was installed and internet access was connected in the new building; work related to systems ensuring the safety of people staying on our premises was completed (fire protection system, monitoring, access control, etc.); plantings were carried out in the courtyard of the Sanctuary and a waste shelter was built. We equipped the conference hall with tables, necessary furniture, and sound equipment; tables were purchased for the café; rooms with kitchenettes were arranged in the new part of the Pilgrims’ House; toilets for pilgrims were put into use and equipped with towel, soap, and paper dispensers, etc.
The most important works planned for 2026 are the installation of the floor and the construction of new, comfortable pews for the Sanctuary. If funds are available, we also plan to install the final sound system and carry out other elements of interior decoration. At the same time, we want to equip the café with essential appliances: an oven, dishes, and a coffee machine—so that it can fully serve pilgrims from Poland and around the world who come to our Sanctuary.
The Sanctuary is being built by the Congregation of the Sisters of Our Lady of Mercy thanks to the donations made for this purpose by devotees of Divine Mercy and people of good will. We thank you for every gift of the heart that makes it possible for a church to arise at the place of the first apparition of Jesus, the Merciful One, to Saint Sister Faustina, and we ask for continued support. For all who spiritually and materially support the construction of the Sanctuary, we pray every day at the Hour of Mercy with the words of the Chaplet of Divine Mercy, and on the 22nd day of each month a Holy Mass is celebrated for all benefactors. By supporting the construction of the Sanctuary, you contribute to creating a place where people from all over the world will be able to experience God’s Mercy and deepen their relationship with Jesus, the Merciful One. We desire that the message of God’s merciful Love proclaimed here may transform the world and draw humanity ever closer to God.
Jesus, I trust in You!
