Filming has begun on scenes for a Polish-American feature film about St. Sister Faustina, entitled Between Silence and a Whisper. The film is a moving and universal story based on facts from the life of the Apostle of Divine Mercy, recorded in her Diary and in the recollections of the sisters from her Congregation.
“The film goes beyond Faustina’s sainthood and portrays a flesh-and-blood woman who finds within herself the courage to continue a mission greater than herself in the face of fear, a terminal illness, and complete misunderstanding from those around her,” says director Michał Kondrat. “It is a story from a hundred years ago about boundless trust in God and the message of Mercy, which today’s world needs more than ever.”
The cast includes Maria Kowalska (Forgotten Love), who plays St. Sister Faustina; Neal McDonough (Yellowstone, Band of Brothers), who portrays Fr. Michał Sopoćko; and Beata Poźniak, a Polish-American actress who appeared alongside Gary Oldman in Oliver Stone’s Oscar-winning film JFK, here playing Mother Michaela Moraczewska, Superior General of the Congregation. The film is directed by acclaimed Polish filmmaker Michał Kondrat (The Prophet, Love and Mercy) and produced by the Kolbe Film Foundation, whose productions have been successfully released in cinemas in 30 countries around the world. Ruvé and Neal McDonough are executive producers, and the film is being made in consultation with the Congregation of the Sisters of Our Lady of Mercy.
